City Council set to hear from 21 delegates on debate around Sir John A. Macdonald statue

It could be a long council meeting at Regina’s City Hall Wednesday afternoon.

Council is set to hear from 21 delegations surrounding the statue of Sir John A. Macdonald in Victoria Park, after administration recommended it be temporarily put into storage until a new location is chosen and a better way to educate people on Macdonald’s history is decided upon.

Macdonald is known as Canada’s first prime minister, but he’s lesser known for his role in the residential school system.
