A Radio Legend is Signing Off

It is the end of an era at 620 CKRM.  Today is the last day of work for Agricultural News Director Jim Smalley.

After 50 years in broadcasting, and 40 years at 620 CKRM, Jim is retiring.

Jim started in radio in Dryden Ontario in 1973.  He eventually found his way home to Saskatchewan and Regina, where he has become THE Voice of Agriculture in this province.

Since he announced his retirement Jim has received several honours including having the newsroom at Agribition named after him, to a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal.

620 CKRM named its newsroom “The Jim Smalley Newsroom” in honour of Smalley’s decades of dedicated service to his listeners, and to 620 CKRM.

Jim will broadcast his last “Saskatchewan Ag Today” at noon.

At 2 o’clock today (Friday), 620 CKRM will have a special one hour salute to Jim Smalley complete with special guests and a surprise or two.
