Police Make Weapons Arrests After Traffic Stop

A burned out tail light led police to making arrests on weapons charges.

Saturday night police stopped a vehicle, and determined the driver had a suspended license.  Police officers also noticed a gun in the car.

A search turned up two guns, one loaded, one not as well as ammunition.

Two people are facing multiple weapons charges, and charges for breaching court ordered conditions.

A 31 year old from Saint Johns Newfoundland has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)];
  • 2 X Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86(2)]; and
  • 3 X Possession of Firearm/Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order [CC 117.01(1)].

A 30 year old man from Indian Head is charged with:

  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing Its Possession Unauthorized [CC 92(1)];
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition [CC 95(1)(A)];
  • 2 X Careless Storage of a Firearm [CC 86(2)]; and
  • Failure to Comply with Condition of Release Order [CC 145(5)(A)].

Both have made initial court appearances June 10th
