Man charged with trying to bring loaded firearm into shelter

Police in Regina arrested a man Sunday evening after a loaded firearm was discovered during a mandatory bag check.

Officers responded to the 1500 block of 12th Avenue around 7:30 p.m. and confirmed the weapon was loaded and belonged to the suspect.

The man, identified as a 33-year-old man from Calgary, faces six charges, including possession of a loaded firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and possession of unauthorized ammunition.

He appeared in Regina Provincial Court on this morning. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
