Unstamped Cigarettes seized by Saskatchewan Highway Patrol

A traffic stop near Lumsden uncovered 24 pallets of unstamped tobacco on January 14. Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officers discovered the tobacco during a routine check on Highway 11.

RCMP officers arrested the driver and passenger, but only the driver, a 24-year-old man from Brampton, Ontario, faces charges.

The seized tobacco, amounting to 400,000 cigarettes, could have been worth millions on the illegal market. The suspect is charged with offenses under the Criminal Code, Excise Act, and Tobacco Tax Act.

He will appear in Regina Provincial Court on April 15. Authorities praise the collaboration between law enforcement agencies in this operation.
