A youth is facing charges following a weapons offence in Regina.
At approximately 9:50 a.m. on Jan. 24, Regina Police Service were dispatched to a business on the 4800 block of Harbour Landing Drive for the report of a firearms offence.
Initial information received indicated that gunshots were heard coming from inside the building.
Police attended and a brief investigation resulted in the discovery of a loaded firearm as well as damage to the floor consistent with gunshots.
As a result of this investigation, a 17 year-old male youth, who cannot be named in accordance with the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with: possession of a weapon; possession of a prohibited device or ammunition; possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order x5; possession of a loaded or restricted firearm x2; careless storage of a firearm x2; failure to comply with disposition; possession of unauthorized firearm x2; careless storage of a firearm; and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The youth made his first appearance on these charges in Regina Youth Provincial Court on Jan. 27 at 9:30 a.m.
