SASKATOON – Saskatoon Police are investigating after a patrol vehicle was stolen when officers were engaged in a public intoxication investigation on Sunday morning.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., April 27, officers were on patrol on 22nd Street near Avenue P when a man unexpectedly entered the roadway in front of them. Upon further assessment, officers learned he was intoxicated and carrying open liquor. When officers approached the man, he fled and a brief foot pursuit ensued before he was taken into custody.
At approximately 1:45 a.m., using the patrol vehicle’s GPS, it was located, abandoned, in a back alley in the 1600 block of 29th Street West.
The incident remains under investigation.
