Christmas is just days away which means many of us have presents wrapped up and under the tree. For those who have a real tree this year, many might be asking themselves “what do I do with it after Christmas?” The Regina Scouts have a solution.
The 2nd Regina Scouts will be collecting Christmas Trees starting in January as a fundraiser for the many educational trips and adventures Scout kids go on throughout the year. The fundraiser started several years ago by two youth fundraising for their university education, however the Scouts took over shortly after and it’s grown considerably over the years.
“Back then, it was about 100 people on their list and it’s grown tremendously over the years up to 750 trees a year we pick up,” explained Grant Vogelsang of the 2nd Regina Scouts.
For a donation of $12, the Regina Scouts will pick up trees on January 3rd and 10th from various yards around the city. Those wanting a tree picked up can CLICK HERE to register their home.
“We have an online form and you pick your date, put your address, your name, your email, and your phone number and it will register you in there,” noted Vogelsang.
The scouts ask that your tree be moved outside to the front yard so it’s easier to collect. They will help elderly people and those living in apartments with Christmas tree removal from their residence, but they prefer if the tree could be left outside by those who are able.
