Saskatchewanians have enjoyed a nice start to 2026 so far with Mother Nature bringing well above normal temperatures to most areas of the province. Warm temperatures have shrunk snowfall amounts significantly in some areas and made streets very mucky for motorists. Wednesday saw many communities across the province set new temperature records, particularly in northern regions of Saskatchewan.
In the 620 CKRM listening region, Wynyard climbed to 5.2C, breaking a 40-year-old record of 2.5C. Residents of the Maple Creek region watched their mercury climb to 15.4C, passing a 2008 record of 13.5C. Lucky Lake tied a 1999 record of 4.6C and Swift Current climbed to 8.8 on Wednesday, passing their record of 7.8C set in 1973.
