The annual “Fish On” Ice Fishing Derby at Fishing Lake returns for another year this Sunday, February 15th east of Wadena at Saskin Beach.
“If you register by February 12th, which is our early-bird deadline, you could win a 36-inch Blackstone Grill,” noted Lisa Ochitwa, one of the organizers for the event.
Advance holes are $75 and walk-on holes will be $80, plus there are thousands of dollars in prizes to be won.
“We have over $35,000 in prizes that we’ll give out on the ice,” explained Ochitwa.
The grand prize is $15,000 for any species, 2nd prize is $5,000, and there will be $20 walleye side bets with a percentage awarded for first, second, and third, plus there are numerous raffles as part of the event.
Shelters and electronics will be permitted during the derby, however all shelters are subject to inspection prior to the event.
“The derby area is actually pretty big so we make sure everybody can bring their tent and stay nice and toasty and have a great day,” Ochitwa said.
Derby registrations starts at 8 a.m. Sunday and fishing will be from noon until 4 p.m.. Those wanting to participate and register by CLICKING HERE.
