Many of us now turn to social media to learn about new life hacks and trends to make specific jobs just a little easier. While some of these trends are creative and, in some cases, ingenious, others are dangerous to attempt.
The latest social media trend to receive condemnation from doctors and experts is the practice of “bone smashing.” The concept involves young men using a hammer to gently pound the bones in their face in an attempt to get a more chiseled look. It’s believed that when the bone (or bones) heal on the face, a more pronounced jawline will form creating more of a square face. Those who are attempting this trend think it’ll boost their chances of attracting someone else.
Doctors have been informed of trend and are strongly denouncing it, with one Los Angeles plastic surgeon calling it “insane.” Various doctors have chimed in on the trend and all agree that it should not be occurring because it could lead to facial disfigurement or impairment. They also say that “bone smashing” can damage blood vessels in the face and neurological disorders.
