After a winter that many felt just wasn’t going to go away, it appears spring has finally sprung with the announcement of several local golf courses opening.
The City of Regina has announced the Murray, Tor Hill, and Joanne Goulet golf courses will be opening on Friday, May 1st while the Lakeview Par 3 will open on Friday, May 8th. The driving ranges on city operated courses have also been opened for those who need to practice their swing. According to Russell Eirich, Director of Parks and Open Space Services for the City of Regina, over 140,000 rounds of golf were played on city courses, which is a new record.
The Sherwood Forest Golf and Country Club, west of Regina, says they’ll be opening their course on Monday, May 4th. Green Acres, east of Pilot Butte, has had to postpone their opening date due to wet conditions on the course. Deer Valley Golf Course, between Regina and Lumsden, will be opening on Saturday, May 2nd with bookings now being taken online through their website.
The Royal Regina Golf Club will be opening on Friday, May 1st as well with the first tee time set for 10am. The driving range at Indian Head Golf Course is open, but an opening date for the course hasn’t been announced as of yet.
Flowing Springs has opened their driving range but they haven’t announced an opening date just yet. They will be holding adult group golf lessons, however, on May 25th, June 1st, and June 8th.
