May has arrived with warm temperatures, the wind and the potential for rain, but yet there is the rollercoaster we are on that reminds us we are not out of the woods just yet. However, you cannot let the wind, snow, rain slow ya down.
The 620 CKRM Country Cookouts rule May with Tuesday and Thursday dates over the next 4 weeks. The whole crew is looking forward to taking to the road on days when the sun hangs on longer each day. While the weather has put a damper on the progress of farming, once things get going – watch out. So, we bring the food, the beverage, entertainment, prizes and socialize till its time to head back to the city. Our sponsors come along when they can and we leave your farm meeting new friends and making some fun memories through conversation and music. It is a feast for the eyes, the ears and the belly! We are still registering farms. Do not miss out.

Some of the other things coming up are sport related with the Regina Red Sox, the Regina Thunder, The Saskatchewan Roughriders and of course hockey playoffs. CKRM keeps you updated and involved in sports across this province. It is great seeing the ball teams out on the diamonds around the city. There are track and field meets coming up as school starts to wind down. As a kid I remember being inside watching the Philadelphia Flyers of the mid 70’s playing for the Stanley Cup. Now you can watch it on your phone, any number of streaming platforms or radio. But again, go way back and the original six were probably heard from Chicago radio.
The Roughriders are getting packed up to head to Saskatoon for training camp, a pre-season game and then the beginning of the 2026 season. Grey Cup Champions now begin all over again with some new faces and a new mission to repeat. The 620 CKRM Saskatchewan Roughrider Pep Band are ready. Mark May 18th date on the calendar for their annual HOT DOG sales at Canadian Tire North. The band will be attending our 100th birthday celebration. If you want some of the history of the Pep Band check out the Icons of CKRM, Lorne Harasen was the backstory.
The fundraising events keep rolling across Saskatchewan and right here in Regina. I’ll be helping out at the 21st Annual Souls Harbour Rescue Mission “Love Your Neighbour” banquet on Wednesday, May 13th at the Regina Apostolic Church. It is the best way to meet the staff, the community that is Souls Harbour and those that have put their faith in Christ for a new beginning.
Sask Lung presents the Breath Strong Raffle – we will be hearing more about that this week as a deadline for early tickets is looming this week. Some cool prizes like a trip up to Churchill, Manitoba, oh and a trip to watch the Blue Jays.
Keep it on 620 CKRM for details on these tid-bits and MORE! Lots more!
