The City of Regina has released its annual summer leisure guide online. The guide is full of programs and activities for both kids and adults to participate in during the summer months such as swimming lessons, badminton, basketball, pickleball, and more.
In a news release, the City says they have 1,199 registered programs for people to choose from, which is one of the highest numbers they’ve had in several years. This includes programming at the Sandra Schmirler Centre which was closed last year for maintenance.
There are a number of new programs this year including a group singing class for those aged 18 and older, copper tooling, Lego engineering and robotics for ages 6 to 13, and free drop-in fun spots for kids where they can play soccer, basketball, and more in various neighbourhoods. Fantasy craft making is also new for ages 9-13 where kids can make their own fantasy themed craft. Game design using scratch coding is something new for kids this year, designed to help with critical-thinking skills while making video games.
The handy online guide includes prices and dates of various swimming lessons at local swimming pools, however opening dates for outdoor swimming have not been determined just yet. Registration for programs will start at 7am on May 12th for residents of Regina and on May 19th at 7am for non-residents.
