People in British Columbia were left with a mystery early this week after witnessing something very strange in the night sky. Several reports have been made about an odd shaped object glowing in the evening sky on Tuesday over northern BC including Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, and Prince George areas.
According to one witness, it glowed rather quicky and then dimmed as it moved away. There were similar reports from other witnesses as well. Most seemed to see a white cone-shaped object floating towards the horizon before disappearing completely between the hours of 10pm and 10:30pm.
Several theories have emerged as to what it was including a UFO, weather balloon, or even a SpaceX rocket deployment. Scientists are fairly certain the object is part of a SpaceX rocket that was launched that dame day in California. Malhar Kendurkar of the Prince George Astronomical Observatory told CBC Radio in BC that a Falcon 9 rocket was launched earlier in the evening from Vandenberg Space Base and it’s highly likely it was a rocket in the upper atmosphere causing a “cloud-like” effect.
