An investigation is underway, following a fatal collision between a train and a van, west of Portage la Prairie.
Around 8 a.m. on July 14, RCMP were called to the scene of the crash, on Road 40 West, in the R.M. of Portage la Prairie.
Mounties say it appears a southbound Manitoba Sheriffs van collided with the train, causing the van to roll into the ditch.
The driver of the van, a 28-year-old Portage la Prairie man, died at the scene, while the lone passenger suffered minor injuries, and was taken to hospital as a precaution.
RCMP continue to investigate, in cooperation with CN Police and Manitoba Workplace Health and Safety.
