I consider myself a very privileged man, as I get to roam this great province of ours, with the 620 CKRM Country Cookout. My travels reveal such rich local history that’s hidden right along our rural roads amongst us. We fire off another Cookout run starting in September and my guilty pleasure has to be finding the old homesteads and community buildings that are weathered beyond repair and overcome by neglect and time to become reminders of what was. I love the old house, barns, bridges, elevators, stores & landscapes that stand out. My mind races to what it was like back in the “boom” days when it was a home for a family or the focal point of a community.
Let’s look back at some of what I came across. Just to be upfront….. this is only a fraction of what I have in my Image folders.

We could be bringing prizes, live music & the best spread around for you & your crew. Beginning September 1st and every Tuesday and Thursday for 4 weeks, the CKRM crew will be going to a selected farm community with delicious food from Nicky’s Cafe & Catering, drinks & live music. I will also be broadcasting LIVE in the winner’s nearby community! Simply listen for the dinner bell cue to call for your chance to qualify.
