This weekend, I Love Regina Day takes place at Victoria Park, Pat Fiacco Square and surrounding area. Whether you are there to support the Drop Zone or you just want to hang out on a beautiful day, make sure to stop by the many displays. Volunteers are there to answer your questions and help celebrate the City of Regina. One of the many signature events that happens across this country is also part of Regina’s make up; the annual Terry Fox Run. This year it takes place on Sunday, September 20th beginning with the 11am registration and at noon the walk, run, roll event.
Carissa Robb has been working with the Terry Fox Run / Terry Fox Foundation for years. She is a wealth of information on how this run helps with the research dollars and putting together the researchers that find new information on a regular basis. Cancer is complex and it is your donations that keep the wheels in motion.
Terry had a dream. On the 46th anniversary that dream takes place in over 525 communities across Canada. In Saskatchewan, through the Community and School Runs a record breaking $1,130.663 has been raised from the 1.266 million population. Our province is making an impact on Terry Fox’s Dream.
As stated in a press release from Carissa Rob, “We have had great success and are so very close to Terry’s goal. In 1980, 22 year old Terry Fox stated,
“When I started this run, I said that if we all gave one dollar, we’d have $22 million for cancer research, and I don’t care man, there’s no reason that isn’t possible. No reason!”
So, Saskatchewan – let’s get busy and FINISH IT! www.terryfox.org
