Regina’s reputation for being a friendly city in Canada was under the spotlight recently thanks to a new survey from Nextdoor Canada. The platform, with the help of residents, scored each neighbourhood based on friendly neighbour interactions, how often neighbours request help or recommendations, welcomes that are extended to new neighbours, and how active residents are at supporting local businesses.
What we found in our study in Regina is that next door neighbours there love a few neighbourhoods, but the number one topped rank neighbourhood in Regina was Sherwood Estates/McCarthy Park,” noted Maya Kosoff, Communications Manager of Nextdoor. “People loved its safety, it’s walkability, there’s quiet steets, beautiful parks, they love how family oriented it is, and there seems to be significant care amongst neighbours.”
Sherwood Estates/McCarthy Park ranked 100 on Nextdoor Canada’s list followed by Parkdale at 99, Eastview at 95, Uplands at 92, and Wood Meadows rounding out the top five with 90.
Nextdoor’s rankings are based on its friendliness score which measures real neigbourhood activity on the platform. The top score a neighbourhood can receive is 100.
“We have over 110 million neighbours on our platform offering trusted local news, real time safety alerts from local public agencies, neighbourhood recommendations, events, and for sale/free listings,” noted Kosoff.
