Environment Canada has issued a yellow wind warning for parts of Saskatchewan on Monday thanks to an intense low pressure system.
Regina, Moose Jaw, Swift Current, Gravelbourg, Assiniboia, Weyburn, Estevan, Carlyle, and Whitewood areas are under the wind warning with westerly wind gusts of 90 to 100km/h expected starting Monday morning. The wind is expected to taper off by evening.
According to meteorologists, wind gusts of this magnitude can cause damage to roofs, fences, trees, and soft shelters. Those who are driving on the highway may have difficulty especially for those operating high-sided veicles.
In addition to wind warnings, Environment Canada has also issued a rainfall warning for the Saskatoon, Prince Albert, and Melfort areas for Monday. Depending on the area, rainfall amaonts will range from 50mm up to 100mm, which may cause localized flooding on some roads and streets.
