For the past four years, the Labour Day Golf Classic has been pairing Saskatchewan Roughrider and Winnipeg Blue Bomber fans with their favourite team alumni for a day on the golf course. This year, the tourney will take place on Saturday, Sept 5th at Aspen Links Golf Course in Emerald Park.
“This year we have our greatest attendance yet of Bomber and Rider alumni plus a few other special guests,” noted organizer Ricky Kezama. “First year attendees this year would be Ray Elgaard, Tad Kornegay, Mitch Picton, Obby Khan from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and, of course, we always have CKRM’s own Luc Mullinder.”
Other notable names in the tournament include Andrew Greene, Dan Clark, Bomber Cheer alumni, Nik Lewis, and Dwayne Provo.
“We’ll pair you up with an alumni and you get to golf with a CFL legend, tell some jokes, have a lot of fun and maybe hear some great football stories and maybe some not football stories, chucked Kezama.
Registration and lunch starts at 11am at Aspen Links followed by a shotgun start at noon. A roast beef dinner will happen later that evening with the after party starting shortly after with a live DJ. Proceeds from the Labour Day Gold Classic will benefit Saskatchewan Minor Football.
Those interested in registering their team of three can call 306-535-5722.
