So I was talking a lot before, about the cat that adopted my family, and then it became the pregnant cat that adopted my family.
We took her to the vet and 4 or 5 baby kittens were in her tummy. We go from having no cat, to one cat, to potentially one cat and 5 kittens!
Well THE night came last Monday. All I can say, is man, I’m so glad I never have to give birth again! I thought a lot about the farmers and calving, how you guys do this around the clock, with hundreds of calves being born. You guys are amazing. I had a teeny tiny taste with one cat who didn’t want me to leave her side throughout the whole thing. 8pm to 3am.
She had 3 kittens, but sadly none of them made it. It was so sad to watch. The internet and everyone I’ve talked to say that the mother cat knows, and won’t let the kittens live if there is something wrong with them, if the mother cat is too young and her maternal instincts didn’t kick in, and I’m sure there are other reasons.
But it was really sad. I have to say I cried and cried. My sons handled it better than I did. It’s different for us city folk, we aren’t used to this kind of thing, at least I’m not. Spot is doing much better now, she bounced back fine. But it definitely wasn’t the ending we were expecting.
I do have to say though, now that she isn’t pregnant, she is definitely cuddling way more, which I LOVE!
