The City of Regina has announced this year’s Henry Baker Scholarship nominees. 17 students from Regina each received $2,000 to help with their post-secondary education in Regina. Since the scholarship was started in 1990 $466,000 has been given out to 257 students to help support their education in Regina.
“These recipients have demonstrated an incredible commitment to academic success, community involvement and service to others. Their dedication, character and ambition are inspiring, and we are honoured to support them as they continue to pursue their dreams. Congratulations to the 17 recipients of the Henry Baker Scholarship,” stated Mayor Chad Bachynski in a press release to 620 CKRM.
The Henry Baker Scholarship is awarded to students who excel in their studies, whether that be graduating high school students or those already in post-secondary education. In addition to academic excellence, the applicants must also show how they are making a difference in their community.
According to the City, the $1,000 Mryglod Scholarship was not awarded this year due to no applicants.
