As we gather to celebrate another bountiful harvest with the 620 CKRM Country Cookout with the Reiman’s, we are reminded of the incredible legacy that roots this community. Known as Canada’s Most Notorious City, Moose Jaw played a pivotal role as a booming early 20th-century railway hub and a legendary haven during the Prohibition era. Walking through downtown feels like stepping into a living museum, where architectural magnificence meets timeless craftsmanship. From the Edwardian Classical grandeur of Moose Jaw City Hall to the stately elegance of the old Canadian National Railway Station, these structures stand as powerful symbols of prairie resilience and pride. But the storytelling doesn’t stop at the facades. Moose Jaw is the mural capital of North America, boasting nearly 50 giant outdoor works of art. These hand-painted masterpieces, like Breaking New Ground and Cruising Main Street, vividly depict our early pioneers, indigenous heritage, and agricultural roots. They remind us of the hard work that built this province—the very same dedication we honor today as our farmers bring in the harvest. I tried to capture as many murals and architectural buildings as I could in my day. Make Moose Jaw a stop in your journey’s sometime and admire what they have to offer.

Now, let’s talk about a local treasure that truly embodies the heartbeat of our community—The Reiman homestead. Run by a family whose passion runs deep into the southern Saskatchewan soil, the Reimans’ don’t just work the land; they preserve its very soul. Alongside their active family farm, they operate as a massive, antique lot here in the Moose Jaw just north of town by the old A&W along the #1 highway. To the Reimans, it’s not just a business—it’s an absolute devotion & dedication to preserving our history. Every vintage sign, rusted tractor part, and weathered piece of prairie history they rescue tells a story of the pioneers who built this province. Their zeal for preserving local heritage ensures that Saskatchewan’s rich past is never forgotten.
As we celebrate the harvest, the Reimans stand as a beautiful reminder of where we’ve been and the hard work that keeps us moving forward. Thank you Burk, William, Sylvia and everybody in attendance for the hospitality and kindness show to us.
I can’t say enough about Chris Henderson! Here’s a guy who pours his heart and soul into Saskatchewan. Chris Henderson has written and performed songs about Saskatchewan and he is up front about his upbringing in this great province. Year after year, Chris has been an absolute staple at our 620 CKRM Country Cookouts, bringing that unmistakable, award-nominated prairie sound that gets everyone on their feet. He doesn’t just perform—he connects, turning every single cookout into a giant backyard party with his genuine passion and incredible roots-country talent. We are so incredibly lucky to have had him share his music with us over the years, soundtracking our harvest celebrations with pure Saskatchewan pride! Thanks Chris.
