The National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester, New York has named their newest inductees out of a list of 12 toys. A committee along with votes from the public help determine who will make the induction list each year.
This year, Bingo, Bop-it, Care Bears, Mahjong, Monster High, Mouse Trap, Pokémon Trading Cards, Polly Pocket, Slide, Sorry, Tickle Me Elmo, and Yahtzee were all nominated, but only four will actually be inducted.
The public and a committee of judges chose Bingo, the Care Bears, the Slide, and Pokémon Trading Cards to be inducted in 2026. The four toys join 90 other toys enshrined in the Toy Hall of Fame, including Trivial Pursuit (a Canadian invention), Transformers, the spinning top, and My Little Pony.
According to the National Toy Hall of Fame, anyone across Canada and the United States can nominate a toy at any time for future induction. The four pieces of criteria includes icon status, the longevity of the toy, does it foster creativity or discovery, and how innovative is a toy.
The Toy Hall of Fame is located in the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, NY.
