CN Rail says grain movement has improved significantly this month

CN Rail says grain movement is flowing smoothly this month after serious disruptions this winter.

The railway was affected by a week-long strike in November and illegal blockades this winter.

Executive vice president Sean Finn says special steps have been taken to ensure workers remain safe during the COVID-19 outbreak yet grain shipments remain on track.

He says grain is moving well with spotting this past two weeks a high number of hopper cars.

He says last week, there were 7,160 hopper cars spotted on locations across the prairies.

During the challenging winter months, he says the target was 4,150 cars per week.

Finn says the backlog has been cleared from the blockades but there is still some catching up to do.
