Traffic stop results in weapons charges for Regina man and woman

The Regina Police Service says a 26-year-old man and 23-year-old woman are facing multiple charges following a traffic stop on Wednesday evening.

Police stopped a vehicle just before 7:50 p.m. on the corner of Dewdney Avenue and Park Street. When officers asked for identification from the male passenger and female driver, they learned of multiple arrest warrants for the man.

Both individuals were asked to exit the vehicle and were taken into custody. A search of the vehicle located a sawed-off shotgun and a knife.

Delmont Asapace of Regina has received eight charges including two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order. Michelle Kayla Davis of Regina faces two charges of careless use of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device or ammunition in a motor vehicle.

Asapace was in court on his charges Thursday morning. Davis has been released on an undertaking and will not make her first court appearance until July 19.
